so good and fresh, made on spot, and affordable. $3/taco. You know it's made with fresh whole healthy ingredients too so u don't have to worry as much about it being unhealthy especially if u can't help and go there alot like me. Careful with the red sauces tho, I can handle heat well but it threw me off guard at first so i recommend putting them in containers at first.

Don't know why this place doesn't have way more reviews and hasn't blown up yet, but it deserves so much more hype!! Las Palmas has the most authentic tacos I've had anywhere in Pittsburgh. It's essentially a taco stand outside of a Mexican grocery store -- you can't get any more authentic than that! You pay upfront by letting the cashier know how many tacos you want to get (3 was a good amount for a filling meal) and then you go up to the guy cooking and specify which meats you want in your tacos. You can see them literally cooking the meat right in front of you and it smells sooo good. I tried 3 different ones because I couldn't decide. There's a self serve toppings bar w all the classic options (salsas, guac, onions, etc) for you to load up your tacos after you get them freshly handed to you. The tacos were fire. There isn't any seating nearby which is probably my only complaint so we just ate them on some random steps nearby, but it's such a good vibe especially in the summer. If you're looking for tasty, cheap, and authentic tacos in Pittsburgh, this is your place!

The taco stand outside is very good. You have to go inside to the cash register where you pay for the tacos first, then give your receipt to the man at the taco stand where you order your tacos. Order when it's busy, tacos aren't great if it's not busy as the meat sits and looses freshness. But tacos are good.

So the tacos are made on the grill top right outside of the grocery store. You go inside to pay ($3/taco) then hand the receipt to the cook and tell him your order. While they make your tacos, you peruse the salsa bar. You can add as much onions, pico de gallo, and cilantro as you want (so I piled up). So, so good. I was searching for an authentic taco place and I found it in Las Palmas.

I am writing this review to state my case that "Las Palmas", the renowned Mexican taco establishment, is the best restaurant in Pittsburgh. I can hear your voices -- "But Adam, how is that possible?" -- let me paint you a picture. Las Palmas is a grocery store/taco stand that has 4 locations across the greater Pittsburgh area. The two that I frequent are the Oakland location, and the Brookline location. Both are near flawless. To get your hands on these delicacies you must walk inside the grocery store part, go to the register, and ask for the amount of tacos you'd like to order. You pay, and then they give you a slip of paper with the number of tacos you get. The grocery store part also provides Mexican sodas, as well as other various goods. After you get your slip, you head out to the grill, hand the person cooking your paper, and then tell them what kind of meat you want inside your corn tortillas. I usually go for steak, Al pastor, or chorizo. There's also ribeye which they grill right in front of you. After you receive your food, there's a toppings bar that has various sauces, onions, tomatoes, and limes. No restrictions on how much you get. No condiment police here. You can either take it to go or eat is outside. The Brookline location has benches you can eat on in the summer. The ambiance is one of hungry people looking to get a quick bite. One taco is 3 dollars. They are BIG, lots of meat, infinite toppings, 3 tacos is more than enough for even a human being over the size of 6 foot 5 inches. So: to recap -- as someone that has been to las palmas over 100 times (no I have not counted), it is consistently cheap, quick, delicious, and filling. GO HERE NOW OR ELSE!!!

How is it that this joint's only racked up three measly reviews? Well, you know, if my illustrious opinions actually meant anything, which they so clearly don't (note the sarcasm, grown-ups!). Now, listen up, this little gem in Pittsburgh is the bona fide taco mecca you've been dreaming of. Sure, there might be other taco spots floating around, but trust me, this one's as genuine as a unicorn in a china shop. So, picture this: you cruise over to Beechview, park your ride on some random city street, and then, bam, you stumble upon this behemoth of an outdoor eatery. They've got a lineup of like a dozen different proteins to choose from. And guess what? For a mere 3.50, they slap your chosen meaty goodness onto a double layer of corny tortillas. Oh, but here's the scoop, my friends: don't stroll in there thinking you're gonna waltz out unscathed. No siree! They've got the hot sauce - I mean, the kind of liquid fire that can probably cure colon cancer and give your digestive system a thorough spring cleaning. You've gotta maintain that equilibrium, you know, so hit 'em up around 11 AM, snag a coconut water, and consider yourself a tactical genius. Now, here's where it gets real. Load up that taco with all the verde and salsa action your taste buds can handle, and brace yourself for some serious culinary elbow grease. I'm telling ya, chowing down on these soul-satisfying tacos will teleport you right back to the dusty streets of my old stomping grounds in Yuma, Arizona. But hang tight, I've got one last observation to drop on ya: this ain't your run-of-the-mill Mexican fare that's been watered down for the masses. Nope, it's the real deal, authentically crafted and absolutely my numero uno taco in all of Pittsburgh!

Las Palmas es muy delicioso!! Atwood Street is where you'll find Las Palmas tacos. Locating parking can be challenging but don't get upset! Because these tacos son muy ricos! (Very good). Atwood street is a one way street so take that into account. When trying to find parking I found that taking boulevard of the Allies all the way in until you meet Basset st, hanging a left at that light and taking it up until you run into Atwood street is the best route. The tacos are done on an outside flattop grill. The well seasoned and well loved flattop grill pumps the tacos out in a timely manner. As your eyes grow as large as your stomach, the mind paces its thoughts on what you're about to do to these finely done corn tortillas and choice of meat tacos. Finally in what seems to be a blink of an eye your tacos are done and waiting to be garnished by no one other than you. You'll find the garnishes to the left of the flattop grill and it's up to you to pick your toppings. The selection is plentiful between the cilantro, salsas, limes, and toppings the tacos become your canvas of love! But don't forget about the.. ..Tienda (store) right behind the gentleman who makes these wonderful joys, is a door to Mexico itself. Finding all the joys of a Mexican tienda right here in Pittsburgh Pa!!!The store houses Mexican candies, spices, pops, and candy as well as a deli in the back. This place is a little piece of Mexico nestled into the college community of Oakland!

Pittsburgh is freezing, not exactly the BAHAMAS But it rules when it comes to all its downtown PANORAMAS And it's numero uno when it comes to perfect DAMAS And Friday night fights and all the drunken college DRAMAS But I heard there's a Taco place that's like Tractors to FARMERS More addictive than Denver or Cali's MARIJUANAS So I came here faster than Speedy GONZALEZ Didn't even change, I came here in my PAJAMAS Had to wait in line behind the Padres and the MAMAS Herding round the taco stand like hungry little LLAMAS But I was able to bear it like one of those KOALAS Even though this stand was more packed than that titty BAR WAS Made me feel so drunk, just like 100 Arnold PALMERS Every taste was powerful like Indian MAHARAJAS They said "want some more" and I responded "SI, YAH, MAS!" Best taco in the North East is right here at LAS PALMAS! WHAT! What to get: Rib Eye Taco, Rib Eye Taco, Rib Eye Taco. Why: Because I said so and I know things. Condiments?: Add your own. The salsa will kill you, be careful which ones you put on it. Try the milder ones, if there are any. Plus tons of onions and cilantro. What else: If they don't give me enough I yell "Mas, Pal. Mas!" And get dirty looks. We're talking about some of the greatest tacos in the history of tacos. Their other location was probably the first time I had this type of big large ribeye taco and I fell madly in love with them - Lomo as they're called by many - and it's easy to see why, considering how utterly delicious they are. Better even than the equivalent at L'Patron of Chicago and other more well-known places. With the ultimate big generous self-service condiment bar and with a vast array of delicious salsas, and with the most succulent amazing ribeye meat and the best savoury large brown tortillas, I've been in love with LP since the first time I tried them. I'm pretty sure I always will be. Just make sure you ask for the ribeye. It's what makes life worth living. To think, the first few times I came I didn't know about the Ribeye, and still loved this place. But once I discovered the Ribeye, there was no going back, nor will there ever be. Long may they be here, doing this. Yes they may be bad for your Palma-nary Artery and yes they are too big to hold in the Palma your hand, but these tacos are literally among the 5 best tacos in the United States. There. I said it. So when I say top 5 tacos in the United States please don't take it lightly. I've tried probably 3,000 taco places in this country (I'm not kidding) and plenty of those were the "top rated" places in one city or another. So I consider myself something of an expert. As much as someone who is not from Mexico can be. And si, I've been to Mexico a bunch too. Yo estoy enamorada con Las Palmas. All the meats are good, some are great, but it's the Rib Eye that is a top 5 taco in the country. It's dramatically superior to any of the others at this stand, or any other rival tacos for hundreds of miles. The next best nearest tacos are the Rib Eye at La Divina in Buffalo (not quite as good), among others in and around Buffalo, or Los Guachos in Columbus. Don't expect it to be like other street tacos you've had. Mexico is vast and has so many different regions which each have many different types of tacos and stands and shops and trucks, and there are so many different ways to do tacos. This place pre-prepares most of the meats en-masse and then dumps them on a large duo of corn tortillas (twice the size of the tacos you're used to, but still only 2 or 3 dollars), and puts nothing at all on them. Then you mosey over to the salsa bar, and add any one of about 10 different salsas and about 10 other different veggie-type condiments. Muy generoso! I think the location in Dormont is even better, by the way - that's the original. Be warned. Most of the salsas will blow your head off. If they will blow my head off (and I can take it, believe me), then they may be too much for a lot of you. Ask them which ones are milder for a more gentle experience, both now and when you use the bathroom later. Don't miss the grocery store either. It's adorable and full of cheap, delicious Mexican products, and sometimes hot tamales too! Now it's time for some Madonna: Madonna, "Tacos De Las Palmas" Last night I dreamt of Las Palmas Just like I'd never gone, I ordered one A young guy with Ribeye on the grill It all seems like Mexico to me, not West PA Tropical the Pittsburgh breeze No other tacos as good as these This is where I long to be Tacos De Las Palmas And when there's salsa on I get tingling in my tum It burns my bum and stings my eyes Your Mexican Ribeye Tropical the Pittsburgh breeze All the people Pittsburghese This is where I long to be Tacos De Las Palmas And when the salsa settled I'd run to the loo so fast It burns my bum and stings my eyes Your Mexican Ribeye

Been coming back here for around 7 yrs now and it's still one of my absolute favorite taco places. Prices have increased with time just a little but still super worth it for me. If you love spicy and delicious sauces, please try their red salsas and the red pepper paste. I always get bistec because it's my personal preference but they've added lots more options now. Order inside with the cashier the number of tacos you want and then bring it out and give it to the person standing outside. Top your taco off however you normally like. My tried and true combos are the mixed salsa, red salsa, spicy red salsa and a crap ton of cilantro and lime. Also recently tried their tres leches which was not bad and only $4. Las Palmas will forever be in my heart ahhaha.

What I love is that this place screams authenticity. In a city where it can be hard to find good and authentic ethnic food, Las Palmas came to deliver. Though this place comes up as a grocery store on google, it has a taco stand outside, and a card that has all the fixins. In restaurants, you can pay five times as much for a taco and it will be nowhere near the quality and authenticity of Las Palmas. Las Palmas is the heart of Oakland and one of my go-to places when I lived in Pittsburgh (literally when I came back, Las Palmas was the one place I made sure I stopped by). They have so many options for their cart from carnitas to pollo to carne asada to chorizo and a lot of side sauces to put on it. This place is also only $3 per taco which is such a steal, given the quality of food. This place is a must for any Pittsburgh foodie and anyone visiting Pittsburgh.
